This blueberry avocado smoothie is an easy and creamy smoothie recipe that you’re going to love! It’s easy to make and requires only a few simple ingredients. It passes for breakfast or a snack and approved by the pickiest of eaters.
I’m a big smoothie gal. Green smoothies are my favorite (I see you avocado mango smoothie) but I also love my golden milk smoothie and this blueberry avocado smoothie is SO good.
They’re such an easy way to pack in nutrients, and if you do them right, they taste delicious. The key is to have a balance fats for creaminess and fruit to make it sweet.
This blueberry avocado smoothie is creamy, high in protein, made with just a few simple ingredients, and the most beautiful purple color.

This recipe calls for just a few simple ingredients that come together to make the most perfect luscious and creamy smoothie.
Avocado: The start ingredient to make this recipe creamy! If you don’t want to use avocado, you can sub for your favorite nut butter or my homemade pumpkin seed butter.
Blueberries: I love using wild blueberries for their deep color, but any blueberries work. You’ll want to use frozen berries to keep the smoothie cold.
Banana: Adds more creaminess and sweetness.
Non-Dairy Milk: This will be the liquid base which will help everything blend. You can sub for water, coconut water or my banana milk too!
Hemp Seeds and/or Protein Powder: I like using hemp hearts for some protein, but protein powder is also delicious.
How to make a blueberry smoothie
To make this smoothie, you will want to peel the banana, peel and remove the pit of the avocado, then add all remaining ingredients to the blender. Process until completely smooth, pour into glasses and enjoy!
If you’re using all frozen ingredients, you’ll need to add a touch more liquid to help it blend. I like smoothies pretty thick, so feel free to thin it out a bit. If you want to make it sweeter, you can add 1 date or a touch of honey.
Blueberries mix well with a lot of other fruits, such as all other berries, mango and honey, so feel free to add some of your favorites to the mix!
Can you freeze avocado?
Yes! However, you just want to make sure the avocados are nice and ripe before freezing them. You can remove the pit and peel, slice them up into chunks and store them in a tupperware container or reusable zip lock bag.
Then just add a few to the blender and you’ll end up with the worlds creamiest smoothie. If you use frozen avocado for this smoothie, you may need to add extra almond milk to help it blend.
Turn it into a smoothie bowl!
This smoothie can be as thick or as thin as you want. Decrease the liquid to make it thick like a smoothie bowl, or thin it out with more almond milk.
Top with your favorite toppings like banana, granola, berries and a drizzle of honey.
Can I make this smoothie in advance?
I don’t recommend making this avocado smoothie the night before because it tends to separate as it sits, and smoothies are generally best served fresh.
However, you can prep all the ingredients and add them to a zip lock bag the night before, then throw them all into a blender with milk or water in the morning and you’re good to go!
Add protein! Definitely. To up the protein content of this smoothie, feel free to add a scoop of your favorite protein powder or collagen peptides.
Use coconut water! This recipe calls for almond milk, but you can use any kind of non-dairy milk or even water or coconut water.
Make with no banana. If you don’t like banana, you can sub it for mango to add sweetness. If you want a low sugar version, you can use more blueberries and then use a vanilla flavored protein powder to add some sweetness that way.

Blueberry Avocado Smoothie

- ½ ripe avocado pitted and peeled
- 1 large ripe banana
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 2 tbsp hemp seeds
- 1/2-1 cup non-dairy milk*
- Optional: 1 scoop protein powder or collagen peptides
- Add all ingredients into a high speed blender.
- Process until completely smooth. Add more milk or water to thin if desired.
- Pour into glasses and enjoy!
Thick & creamy, very good. I used almond milk & black chia seeds. I did not have any hemp seeds available. Will make often!!!!!!!😋❤
I added date syrup, maple syrup and peanut butter as the hemp seeds n avocado had strange taste. I also used hemp milk.
